Our Values/Vision

Courage – At Thresholding, we create and support brave space, because for many, there is no such thing as safe space. And, this is truer still when we are in the midst of surrendering to change, growth and healing. By holding an embodied presence of confidence and personal sufficiency, clients and their community are invited to experiment with this same grounded confidence, authenticity and acceptance of what is within them and their lives.

Curiosity – The very nature of supportive holding at important thresholds requires patient, unpressured curiosity. Turning to wonder in these often difficult moments supports the wise, self-determination of the client.

Embodiment – Thresholding utilizes somatic (body-centered) and mindfulness based approaches for habit change, stress reduction, conflict resolution, personal and professional development and self-actualization. This approach incorporates the various intelligence centers of each client (including head, heart and body/gut) so that the client can take sustainable and resilient action toward their vision, values and goals.

Privacy – The act of “Thresholding” in any context utilizes intentionally contained space to explore and try on ideas and plans without fear others will interfere or communicate prematurely or without intention. We are committed to respectful privacy and anonymity for clients seeking to explore the confidential nature of these life transitions.

Self-Determination – We hold the highest fidelity to amplifying the voice and inner authority of our clients. We have a deep respect for the wisdom of the people and communities we serve. We celebrate the cognitive, lived-experience and other forms of diversity of each client as the vital guidance required in this work. Thresholding is committed to meeting each individual, team and community where they are, how they learn and around their vision of the future trusting that the highest and best outcome for each client can only be achieved through the clarification and amplification of that client’s Truth.

Reciprocity – It is a privilege and honor to do the work of Thresholding. We understand our offerings are possible only because of the generosity of those who have poured their insight and experience into this work throughout the ages. We stand, hopefully always respectfully, on the shoulders of many different kinds of traditions and wisdom teachings of ancient and diverse communities. As such, we value reciprocity in all that we do striving to embody the same generosity that has made the work of Thresholding possible.

A portion of Thresholding proceeds is donated to the following indigenous community organizations in gratitude and the Spirit of reciprocity for the gift of Circle and ancient Community building practices:

About Founding Member of Thresholding, LLC, Leigh Ann Roberts

LEIGH ANN ROBERTS, JD, PCC
Death Doula, Coach & Care Team Facilitator
Founding Member of THRESHOLDING, LLC

Leigh Ann Roberts is a certified Presence-Based, somatic professional coach, family facilitator and End of Life Doula at the Nashville based firm Thresholding, LLC. “Thresholding” is a term Leigh Ann uses to describe her approach: an embodied combination of coaching and spiritual direction with individuals and communities facing end of life, vocational/calling clarity and meditation/psychedelic journey integration partnering.

After practicing law and providing mediation services to families, businesses, large organizations and communities since 1998, Leigh Ann followed her heart’s calling into serving as a professional development coach and team facilitator for individuals and groups in pivotal times of important decision-making, development and change integration. Leigh Ann became certified as a Reiki Level III practitioner in 2004, and received her training as a death doula and end of life sitter/partner by the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA) in 2020 after having the honor of supporting her own family through her mother’s dying process. This family experience was life-changing for Leigh Ann and many of the members of her family and community. Since that time, Leigh Ann has been called on by families in her community to support their loved ones and their family members through the dying process.  Drawing on these experiences and the values most treasured throughout her professional career, Leigh Ann continues to value, above all, the self-determination and empowerment of the Client’s wisdom and intuition as the guiding ethics and values at Thresholding, LLC.  Leigh Ann has found this place of service to be the highest honor and one that continues to renew her own outlook on life daily.

Reciprocity

At Thresholding, we engage in mutual benefit reciprocity practices also called “Ayni” in some Andean communities.  Ayni illustrates that everything in the world is connected and it is healthy to cooperate in community, giving appropriately when you have received generously. If it aligns with your values and circumstances, we encourage you to be intentional about a reciprocity practice to honor the benefits, healing and insights you may have received from the wisdom traditions and lineages supporting your practice.

" Being Aboriginal doesn't have to do with the color of your skin but with your connection and responsibility to Country and all things in nature. It is about your connection to trees, fish, birds, rivers, rocks, and stars. It isn’t about how you look. It isn’t even about your bloodlines. It is about something unseen, deep inside you."
